Reliability ratings for 2012 cars

A new Consumer Reports car reliability survey signifies that expensive European cars may very well be fun to acquire and fun drive an automobile, but you’ll probably be pushing them towards repair center more often than you’d like.

Consumer Reports does probably the most comprehensive research into car reliability, thanks to some extent towards feedback using their company massive subscriber base. The magazine’s latest tally takes a look at the predicted robustness of 2012 makes and models.

The least reliable off brands is Jaguar, with Porsche and Audi — all 3 analysts expensive European nameplates.

On the flipside, the best reliable vehicle of most is Scion, Toyota’s low-cost youth brand. Following Scion, the nameplates with the best predicted reliability for 2012 include:

  • Lexus
  • Acura
  • Mazda
  • Honda
  • Toyota
  • Infiniti
  • Subaru
  • Nissan
  • Volvo

As for American cars, they’re in the actual core pack. (Observe the entire list.) That’s a tremendous improvement over where they once were in annual reliability stats!
